GCMHG – Growing Together Since 2020

What began in 2020 with a few classes, fun meet-ups, and families looking for community has grown into Gulf Coast Manatees Homeschool Group, Inc. (GCMHG) — a 501(c)(3) nonprofit homeschool cooperative serving Citrus County and surrounding communities.

Our journey has included plenty of learning, growing, changing, and adapting along the way. From our early days as the Homeschool Shenanigans Group to the organization we are today, one thing has remained the same: our desire to create meaningful opportunities for children and families to connect, learn, play, and build community together.

Who We Are

GCMHG is a membership-based nonprofit homeschool cooperative offering hands-on learning and enrichment opportunities including STEM and science, arts, physical education, field trips, clubs, community service, family activities, special events, and more.

While our co-op is membership-based, our reach extends beyond our membership. Several of our programs and events are open to all area homeschoolers, and select opportunities are also open to public and private school students when space and scheduling allow.

Why We Exist

We believe families need more than classes. They need friendships, support, opportunities, and a community where children and parents can build lasting connections.

Our goal is to make hands-on classes, field trips, physical education, educational experiences, and community events accessible to families — especially those who may not otherwise have the opportunity to participate.

When we began in 2020, organized homeschool groups and pop-up enrichment opportunities were much less common in our area. We are proud of the role GCMHG has played in helping create new experiences, connections, and lifelong friendships for local families.

🌟 Our Impact So Far

Since 2020, GCMHG has grown from a handful of classes and meet-ups into a thriving nonprofit homeschool community.

We have now celebrated:

● 6 Homeschool Graduations & Milestone Ceremonies
● 6 Annual Field Days
● 6 Science Fairs

Along the way, our families have participated in countless classes, field trips, STEM experiences, P.E. programs, arts, clubs, community service projects, family events, fundraisers, educational adventures, and special opportunities throughout our community and beyond.

We are excited to continue learning, growing, and evolving while staying true to why GCMHG began — bringing families together and creating opportunities for children to learn, experience, explore, and belong.
